Overview

We aimed to create a digital wallet that would:

  • Offer AI-generated insights into user spending habits
  • Help users set and track financial goals
  • Simplify budget management through a clean, streamlined interface
  • Smooth transactions

My Role

As a Product Designer, I contributed across multiple stages:

  • Conducted user interviews
  • Designed user flows and wireframes
  • Created the visual system and UI components
  • Prototyped interactions in Figma
  • Participated in usability testing and iterations

Design Process

Research & Inspiration

To understand user pain points, we conducted:

  • 4 user interviews with students and young professionals
  • Competitive analysis of PayPal, Revolut, and Apple Wallet
  • Review of financial anxiety research and cognitive load considerations

Key Insights

  • Users are tired of complex dashboards with too much data.
  • They want quick answers, not charts. (e.g., “Can I afford this?”)
  • Trust is essential, apps must feel secure and transparent.
  • AI suggestions should be simple, human, and non-judgmental.

Design Opportunities

  • A clear spending summary
  • AI-driven insights, written in conversational language
  • Predictive financial health indicators
  • Emotionally supportive tone
  • A more visually calming experience

Sketches & Early Concepts

We began with quick sketches exploring:

  • A circular spending overview
  • A card-based home screen
  • Simple navigation with only essential features
  • An AI assistant placed subtly, not aggressively

These sketches helped define the app's calming, minimal personality.

Wireframes

Low-fidelity wireframes focused on:

  • An uncluttered homepage
  • One-tap access to insights
  • A predictive model that flags upcoming spending risks
  • Transaction grouping for clarity

Iterations

Feedback from peers highlighted the need for:

  • More contrast between categories
  • A softer, more trustworthy color palette
  • An understandable spending threshold
  • A clearer AI insight layout
